Winter Solstice Google Doodle Marks The Shortest Day Of The Year

The animated snow globe on Google's US home page today marks the first day of winter for the Northern Hemisphere.

Many US users may have noticed Google traded out its usual logo midday today for an animated Doodle of a snow globe to mark the Northern Hemisphere’s Winter Solstice — the official start of winter and shortest day of the year.
The doodle links to a search for “Winter Solstice” that includes a quick answer listing December 22, 2015, as the official date of Winter Solstice.
In addition to the US Google home page, the Doodle has also been posted on Google home pages in Europe, Canada, Iceland, Kazakhstan and Japan.
